“下莊像口井，井有萬(wàn)丈深?！边@句順口溜是此前位于重慶市巫山縣下莊村的真實(shí)寫照。
In the heart of Wushan county, SouthWest China’s Chongqing, lies Xiazhuang village, a place that was once synonymous with isolation and hardship.
下莊四周高山絕壁合圍，因而又被稱為“天坑”。從“井口”到“井底”，垂直高度有1100多米。
Nestled amidst towering cliffs, the villagers faced unimaginable challenges for years because of being trapped within the mountains.
“有人生病了，就只能在屋里等死，因?yàn)闆]法送出去醫(yī)治；有好的農(nóng)產(chǎn)品，也賣不出去，全都困在大山里?！边@樣的絕境讓村黨支部書記毛相林和村民們下定決心不管有多艱難都要修路，“受苦受累不要緊，讓我們成為受窮的最后一代人”。
1997年，毛相林帶領(lǐng)全體村民，以犧牲6條生命的代價(jià)，歷時(shí)7年，在絕壁上鑿出了一條長(zhǎng)達(dá)8公里的“天路”。
The turning point came in 1997 when Mao Xianglin, the village party secretary, rallied the community for an ambitious endeavor — building an 8-kilometer-long road through the sheer cliffs, a project that took seven years and the sacrifice of six lives.
下莊人修路，在懸崖峭壁上一點(diǎn)點(diǎn)鑿，一處一處地放上炸藥炸，風(fēng)餐露宿，為趕工期，他們夜里就在山洞里小憩。
這條綿延8公里的“天路”，讓原本3天的出村行程被縮短為幾個(gè)小時(shí)，為村里人帶來(lái)脫貧致富的希望。
Dubbed 'sky road,' the winding road with multiple hairpin turns links the village to the outside world, shortening the 3-day trip before to a few hours' drive.
路通之后，如何尋找合適的產(chǎn)業(yè)項(xiàng)目？這成了毛相林花費(fèi)力氣最多的事情。
With the road in place, the challenge shifted to finding sustainable economic opportunities.
毛相林做過(guò)許多嘗試：“原先我種過(guò)漆樹，辛辛苦苦把樹苗栽下，沒成想氣候不適合，第二年樹苗全枯死了。后來(lái)又養(yǎng)過(guò)山羊、桑蠶，都不順?！痹谝幌盗械氖『螅ㄟ^(guò)咨詢農(nóng)科專家，村里發(fā)展起了柑橘種植業(yè)。
After several failed attempts, including cultivating lacquer trees and raising goats and silkworms, the villagers turned to citrus farming, guided by agricultural experts.
據(jù)毛相林介紹，柑橘現(xiàn)已成為村里重要的經(jīng)濟(jì)作物。2021年，下莊村實(shí)現(xiàn)柑橘銷售收入100萬(wàn)元，村民人均收入達(dá)到2萬(wàn)元。今年，下莊村柑橘園預(yù)計(jì)產(chǎn)出20余萬(wàn)斤，能使80多戶村民增收獲益。
By 2021, the village had achieved a significant milestone, earning one million yuan in revenue from citrus sales, with each villager earning an average income of 20,000 yuan.
10月的柑橘還都是青綠色，卻承載著下莊村村民們的希望，待到成熟時(shí)，金燦燦的柑橘就成了村里人的“致富果”。
路通了，基礎(chǔ)建設(shè)好了，下莊村的旅游業(yè)也蓬勃發(fā)展，“巫山天路下莊景區(qū)”更是被評(píng)定為國(guó)家4A級(jí)旅游景區(qū)。
With more convenient infrastructure, Xiazhuang village now become a hub for visitors. Its picturesque beauty attracts travelers from far and wide.
年過(guò)六旬的村民楊元鼎是曾經(jīng)參與修路的人之一。2017年，他和村里的另外兩個(gè)貧困戶一起建了一個(gè)三合院，經(jīng)營(yíng)起了民宿和農(nóng)家樂。
The village's tourism industry flourished, with numerous local residents opening homestays and guesthouses.
Among them, Yang Yuanding, who had once contributed to building the road, established a successful homestay business, offering tourists a taste of the village's natural splendor.
目前，三家一共有18個(gè)房間、25個(gè)床位，全年?duì)I業(yè)額可達(dá)30萬(wàn)元，每戶可分得10余萬(wàn)。旅游旺季的時(shí)候，甚至需要提前預(yù)定，有時(shí)還住不下。
楊元鼎說(shuō)，11月時(shí)，周圍會(huì)是滿山紅葉，景色很美，歡迎大家來(lái)下莊看一看。
除了楊元鼎的“三合院”，下莊村還有“彭來(lái)小院”、“元琴小院”、“仁松小院”等一批在村民原居上改造、以村民名字命名的民宿，布置得十分溫馨，迎接著四方來(lái)客。
鄉(xiāng)村變美了，年輕人也回來(lái)了。今年31歲的袁孝鑫是一名返鄉(xiāng)創(chuàng)業(yè)大學(xué)生。2022年初，她回到家鄉(xiāng)，在小院里開起了“下莊布谷”植物扎染工坊。
In the midst of the village's transformation, young people, like Yuan Xiaoxin, a returning college graduate, found opportunities in her homeland.
扎染是中國(guó)民間傳統(tǒng)的染色工藝之一，利用皮筋、玻璃球等不同的器具，可以實(shí)現(xiàn)不同的“扎”法，在白布上繪制豐富的圖案。除了衣物、帆布包等，袁孝鑫還用扎染做了玩具、圍巾等一系列文創(chuàng)。
Yuan, 31-year-old, founded a zaran, botanical tie-dye dyeing workshop, reviving traditional Chinese dyeing techniques. Her venture not only brought in substantial revenue but also became a cultural attraction, allowing tourists to experience the charm of intangible cultural heritage firsthand.
袁孝鑫介紹，僅靠線下售賣，旅游旺季時(shí)月營(yíng)收便可達(dá)萬(wàn)余元。在扎染工坊里，游客還可以自己動(dòng)手制作，感受非遺魅力。
袁孝鑫不久前還當(dāng)選了下莊村村委會(huì)主任。對(duì)村子的未來(lái)，她有著自己的規(guī)劃：她希望通過(guò)培訓(xùn)村里的阿姨，讓她們掌握扎染技術(shù)，促進(jìn)就業(yè)。此外，她還想在村里打造咖啡館等文藝空間，吸引更多年輕人前來(lái)游玩。
Yuan was elected as the director of the village committee. With an eye on the future, she envisioned a village where traditional crafts thrived, employment opportunities multiplied, and vibrant spaces like coffee shops and art hubs attracted the younger generation.
這與毛相林對(duì)村子的五年規(guī)劃不謀而合。他的暢想是，村子里要有景觀，有玩的、有看的，這樣才能留住客人。
當(dāng)了40多年的基層干部，毛相林認(rèn)為，自己有一個(gè)好的良知：不為自己、不謀私利，一生想著全村人。
讓全村人致富，是他一直的夢(mèng)想?！艾F(xiàn)在我高興了，我付出的一切值得了，給老百姓帶來(lái)翻天覆地的變化，這讓我感覺驕傲?！?o:p>
Mao Xianglin, who had spent over four decades as a grassroots leader, found fulfillment in the village's transformation. His dream of lifting his community out of poverty and be prosperous had become a reality, bringing about a profound change that filled him with pride.
