Northeastern University Description:
Founded in 1898, Northeastern is a highly-ranked, large, private university located in Back Bay and Fenway neighborhoods of Boston, Massachusetts. The area has a remarkably high density of college students, and the campuses of MIT, Harvard, Boston University, Simmons, and many other schools are nearby (see all Boston area colleges). Undergraduates can choose from 65 major programs among the university's six colleges.
Business, engineering and health fields are some of the most popular among undergraduates. Northeastern's curriculum emphasizes experiential learning, and the school has a strong internship and co-op program that has often received national attention. High achieving students should check out the Northeastern Honors Program for special academic and living opportunities. In athletics, the Northeastern Huskies compete in the NCAA Division I Colonial Athletic Association.
