Mother's Day Gift
by Guy Belleranti
I didn’t know what to give my mom,
On Mother’s Day this year.
I made a list and checked it twice,
But nothing became clear.
My list included silly slime,
A box of shiny rocks,
Some awesome super hero masks,
And glow-in-the-dark socks.
I asked my sister what she’d choose.
She rolled her eyes and said,
“You only listed things you like.
Please think of Mom, instead.”
I blinked, I frowned, and then I knew.
I made my Mom some art.
I put a lot of love in it,
And gave it from my heart!

For Mother's Day I tried to bake
An eleven layer chocolate cake,
One layer for each of the years
Mom wiped away my tears and fears.
But when I burned my mother's treat,
I threw my hands up in defeat.
I cried and told Mom what I'd done.
She smiled. "We'll make another one."
She streaked some flour on my nose.
From that a flour fight arose.
We laughed, then made that second cake,
Chit-chatted while we watched it bake.
Mom's gift was perfect - and quite tall.
I iced on top, "Best Mom of All."
It made Mom laugh. "I've got to say,
This has been the best Mother's Day!"
It Was Mother's Day
by Katherine Rollins
I wrote my mom a card.
It was harder than I thought.
It wasn't as pretty,
as the one my sister bought.
I tried to make breakfast.
I got out the bread and jam.
It wasn't as tasty,
as my sister's eggs with ham.
I gave my mom a hug.
My sister gave one too.
Mom smiled her widest smile,
when I said, "I love you."
