一、Direct to major
華盛頓大學最牛的錄取通知是direct to major。根據官網，他們每年錄取大概490人（其實以前只有300人樣子），可以直接進入PAUL G.ALLEN學院學習。這里要注意，以前約有20-25%的學生是可以從華盛頓學校其他學院轉進去，當然轉學也是考慮本洲生為主（氣憤，但是沒辦法，公立大U就這種德性）。但是，自2019年起，華盛頓大學開通了direct to major以后，這條轉學之路基本就不通了。所以，現在信息比較混亂，18年前入學的，還是有希望轉進去的，19年及以后入學的學生，因為direct to major開通了，就基本沒希望了。學長告訴你能轉，一定要問清楚，他是哪一屆的，他的信息有可能是過時的。你看下面一段英文，明確表述了，如果2019年以后入學的孩子沒有在入學的時候進入CS專業(yè)，那么應該考慮其他專業(yè)了，其實就是委婉告訴你，入學沒申請到，就別想了。
The expansion of our Direct to Major program will impact students interested in Computer Science, beginning with the entering freshman class of 2019. The new admission process does not affect students who entered the UW earlier. Beginning with the freshman class of 2019, students not directly admitted into the Computer Science major should be prepared to major in something other than Computer Science if they come to UW.
好了，說清楚了，錄取CS，恭喜，人生贏家?。ú贿^，UW照顧本洲生，能錄取CS的外洲生和中國人少之又少）沒有錄取CS，想讀CS的，別去了，考慮其他學校吧，UW讀不上。
二、Direct to college
接著我們看第二種錄取方式，Direct to college。拿到這種錄取通知的學生一定歡天喜地，但是仔細看，工院是進了，但是專業(yè)是undecided，不定專業(yè)？是的，對不起，專業(yè)要自己拼出來的，不是你選的那個專業(yè)就是能讀到的。
仔細看上面這個鏈接，拿到這個offer只能說你進了工院，能夠讀工程類的專業(yè)，但是能讀到哪個專業(yè)，和你申請的是沒關系的。這點要清楚啊，別去了讀不到后悔！
你要好好讀書，有兩個時間點可以申請進專業(yè)，一個是第一學年結束的夏天（7月1日前稱為P1），另外一個是第二年的冬天（1月15日前稱為P2），在P1完成進專業(yè)的要求，可以P1進入，否則只能拖到P2，實在不行拖到二年級結束（P3），由康色建議怎么安排吧。
到了P1，P2,你要像申請大學一樣再次申請，填寫專業(yè)（不止一個，建議1-3個），簡歷，個人文書。學校明確說了，是否能進入就看水平了，又一次考核過程。大家一定想知道難度，有數據：

熱門的CS專業(yè)，19年夏天一共21人轉入，20年冬季只有8個了，這些可能還是18年入學的孩子，后面估計就沒了，所以這個信息大家就忽略吧！
接下來看最熱的CE專業(yè)，
19年夏 第一志愿154人申請41人成功
20年冬 第一志愿69人申請12人成功
次難的是機械工程專業(yè)，
19年夏 第一志愿 129人申請79人成功
20年冬 第一志愿65人申請47人成功
除了這兩個專業(yè)，其他第一志愿數和入讀數是倒掛的，所以，總體感覺，申請工院其他專業(yè)還行，但是要讀到CE專業(yè)，不是說說就行的，要拼的。ME專業(yè)也得花點小力氣哦。自己掂量一下，免得去了受傷。
三、PRE-MAJOR
好了，對于最后一種錄取通知，就是那種PRE-Major的，這種進入大學以后選自己喜歡的專業(yè)課程修就可以了，完成基礎課程（其實也有一點課程和GPA要求，但是基本不難）就可以進專業(yè)了。不過轉工院基本就很難了，UW明確說了，如果你沒有錄取工院，基本就不用考慮轉工院了，實在太難了，我這里除工院外有180個專業(yè)，你隨意選吧。（見下）
If you are admitted to the UW but not admitted Direct to College, it is unlikely you will be able to pursue an engineering degree. While the option exists to apply to engineering majors via the competitive pathway at the end of sophomore year, space is anticipated to be VERY limited as demand for engineering degrees far exceeds available space. If your primary objective is to study engineering, consideration of other engineering schools where you have been directly admitted to the college or major is strongly encouraged.
If you decide to attend UW without admission to the College of Engineering, you should be prepared to pursue a different major. The UW offers more than 180 majors in 68 different departments outside of the College of Engineering.
