It would be easy enough to apply the sameadmissions standards to all applicants and not make exceptions for athletes, children of alumni, wealthy donors, race, gender, or economic status.

To the Alumni of all these colleges, STOPsending your alma mater any money, because obviously they do not need it.Suspend all Federal and State funding to these colleges for ten years and forceall participants to resign without benefits. The taxpayers should NOT have topay a dime for this type of fraud. Let the lesson be learned.

How about this one: My son;s friend in highschool has $80K in scholarship and grant money for no other reason than HE WASADOPTED FROM AFRICA. Yet, both his parents have good jobs and CAN AFFORD to payhis way. Where is THAT fair?

I still can't figure out the right andwrong here. Rich people use a broker, to get their kids in college, and this ishorrible and detestable beyond words. Yet, colleges for decades have givenprecedence to unqualified students, with free scholarships just because theyare of a certain so called minority group. Leaving hundreds of thousands whohave sacrificed to achieve, thrown into the wind.

I attended a great private small college onthe west coast. The costs were enormous and admissions were competitive.Nonetheless, the student enrollment fluctuates somewhat over rolling 5 and 10year periods. In other words, I doubt students actually lost slots to thesepeople paying

'College cheating scandal: Can systembe fixed?' Sure can. Use grades as a metric for admissions.

No, the college admissions system cannot befixed. It is permanently broken. Just like the rest of our society and nationis. We are a broken people and nation. And Trompf's swampy admin is certainlyaccelerating our decline.

My experience with enrollment to UCLA in1990. I was Honor Level student transfer, all they wanted to know was how muchmy parents income is. Perhaps that was “code” that went over my head, but mycounselor walked out and I was shown the door. The Universities have been doingthis and encouraging it for decades. I went to a Cal State instead and I’mdoing great anyhow.

The fraud isn’t committed by just richpeople. Most of the college applications submitted have BS stuff written onthem just so the applicant has a better chance. People are even falselyclaiming their gay or transgender knowing the liberal universities will bite onthat and let them in for it. The problem is the university’s ignorance andtheir acceptance criteria.

Thing is most employers really don’t carewhere you went to school. I went through community college then stateuniversity. There was no need to cheat getting admitted. It was hard butsuccess was proportional to effort. The questions I got in job interviews werewhat engineering discipline i majored in, what projects I completed, what wasmy GPA. I got hired and started working.

Sure it can be fix, once you stop givingpreference to athletics, minorities and large donors. After 50 years of tryingto right all of Americas wrongs it is time to select on grades and entrancetest.

Funny throughout this whole thing the lefthas never yet asked how Obamas girls got into college even though their tenniscoach was named in this ?? Blind eye??

'Can system be fixed?' Not aslong as the schools themselves are engaged in the same behavior. How manystudents with horrible grades are recruited and given scholarships because theyare good at sports? Then they're given course ware that even a severelymentally disabled student would find too easy, so they get to keep theirscholarship, and get to graduate with a degree. And then there's the mega rich, who donate big bucks to the really exclusive colleges, and the kids get in. Whyis that? If the colleges do it themselves, why can't the parents? The onlydifference is that the parents are doing it on the front-end and the schools onthe back-end. ..

If you think any of these people will go toprison you got to be kidding yourself. They bought their kids into a collegeand they will buy their way out of prison, just like all rich people do.

The problem is the universities. They takebribes just like the politicians. There is obviously no oversight, noaccountability and no responsibility. In all things there should be checks andbalances otherwise they will get away with it.

Yes it can be easily fixed. Put these highprofile parents in jail for a good 3 or 4 years.

College applications just like employmentapplications should not list gender or age or race or name. All applicationsshould be assigned a randomly generated number. This way college admissions aswell as jobs would be awarded, in theory, to those most qualified. Hiding suchinformation from applications would help remove any potential bias.

its been rigged for years.on my collegeapplication it asked fathers occurpation, yearly income.its a business and thosewho have the ability to produce big endowment checks get into the selectedcolleges.

The reason tuition costs so much at theseschools is all the free rides for 'athletes' and the accompanying $$$to recruit them, bribe them to come play for your school, free housing, freefood, free books...and of course most of the costly high profile athletes takeit all and leave for the pros after a term or two and never pay a dime out oftheir multi $million contracts back to the school.

What's the remedy? Lengthy prison terms, blown reputations that leave them all unemployed forever and lawsuits thatleave them bankrupt and pushing a shopping cart with all their stuff in it.

People will always and reliably work togame the system in their and their kids own favor. That is a given. I put equalblame if not more blame on the Colleges/Universities. They are straight upgreedy. Every year tuition skyrockets far past any inflation rate. The schoolsroutinely get BILLIONS in gov't handouts in the form of guaranteed studentloans. The students are stuck paying these loans, the schools get the money, the gov't guarantees the loan. Its a win/win for the schools irrespective ofweather or not they actually provide a worthwhile education. Pay to play takestwo and the colleges and their administrations need to be taken to task overthis.
